The CSS color property is used for setting the color (more specifically, the foreground color) of elements. The color property can be used in conjunction with the backgound-color property to achieve the desired effect.

Syntax: color: <value>
Possible Values:
  • auto
  • <color>. This value can be expressed as one of the following:
    • keyword (for example, 'red')
    • RGB value - hexadecimal notation (for example #ff0000)
    • RGB value - functional notation (for example rgb(255,000,000) or rgb(100%,0%,0%))
  • inherit
Initial Value: Depends on the user agent. For example, your browser sets its own default colors for different elements.

Example:
color: red;
color: #ff0000;
color: rgb(255,0,0);
color: rgb(100%,0%,0%);
